If you suffer from more than fifteen headache days per month, with at least eight of those days being migraines, and your headaches last at least four hours, you may have Chronic Migraine (CM). Dr. Sophia (Sophie) Macrodimitris brings nearly 20 years of expertise in behavioural medicine/health psychology to add to the comprehensive care provided at Velocity.

Dr. Macrodimitris is knowledgeable, compassionate, and collaborative in her approach to client care. Using her proficiency in psychodiagnostic interviewing and evidence-based psychotherapies, Dr. Macrodimitiris works with clients and our team to identify, understand, and address common emotional (e.g., Acute Stress Disorder; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; driving phobias, depressed mood), physical (e.g., chronic pain), and social/interpersonal (e.g., family stress) issues experienced after a medical injury.

Evidence-based interventions provided by Dr. Macrodimitris include: exposure therapy and cognitive reframing to manage acute anxiety, trauma, and avoidance; breathing retraining and mindfulness approaches for anxiety/panic attacks and chronic pain; and interpersonal and cognitive behavioural therapies to address depression. All interventions are individualized with the goal being to help clients to get back to living a full life as quickly as possible.

Janice has been practicing for over 20 years in various settings including hospitals, colleges and private practice. Her focus is in trauma, PTSD, headache/chronic pain, addictions, and stress management.

Prior to entering the field of psychology, Janice worked as a mental health nurse, which provided the experience in working with people along the full continuum of mental health issues. In addition to her graduate education in Counselling Psychology, further training in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Integrating somatic psychotherapy with exposure therapy, Chronic Pain Self-Management and Mindfulness Meditation.

For over 15 years, Dr. Nicole Nayoski has specialized in rehabilitative psychology and has helped individuals deal with chronic conditions. She provides psychological interventions for trauma, chronic pain, stress management, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, life transitions, and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

Dr. Nayoski completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology and uses evidence supported strategies to create an individualized treatment plan. Interventions are drawn from such areas as Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and more. Dr. Nayoski partakes in ongoing skills training to provide cutting edge care and recently completed training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

Carlijn has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of MVA related injuries, sports injuries, hips and knees and recently added the assessment and treatment of clients with Vestibular Therapy for treatment of Vertigo. Dr. Randall Wilkie has been practicing as a Doctor of Chiropractic for over 25 years in Calgary. It was in treating injured patients after their accidents where he saw the need for a multidisciplinary approach for the care for their injuries.  Dr. Wilkie’s vision ignited the creation of Velocity Injury Medical Clinic.

Dr. Wilkie uses the techniques, Active Release Technique and Injury Recall Technique, involves hands on treatment for muscular problems such as chronic or acute, sprain/ strains, scar tissue and skeletal disfunctions.  These techniques are currently being used for the benefit of several highly competitive athletes and rehabilitation for patients after their accidents or injuries.  Dr. Wilkie currently acts on site as the Patient Care Director at Velocity Injury Medical Clinic.
